A Critical Review of Research on Reading-Study Skills Programs in Two-Year Colleges and Guidelines for Improvement.

This paper examines current programs of reading/study skills instruction at two-year colleges. The paper is divided into three sections: a review of literature relating to the subject; analysis and evaluation of the research and programs surveyed; and implications for organizing and developing a reading improvement program. A bibliography is attached. The paper concludes that, since two-year colleges seem to be aware of the need for a reading/study skills program, many of these colleges will begin programs or expand and strengthen already existing programs.
