The minutes of the meeting of the Special Committee on Aging of the U.S. Senate on the issue of legal services programs for the elderly, specifically programs in effect in the Boston area include statements made by the following: (1) an elderly diabetic woman testifying about living conditions and lack of services in her housing project; (2) the chief paralegal coordinator, Council of Elders Legal Service Program, Boston, MA on the use of paralegals to further assist in the legal problems of the elderly; (3) the President of the Legislative Council for Older Americans, Boston, MA on the legal needs of the elderly; (4) the State Director of the National Retired Teachers Association of the American Association of Retired Persons, Hyannis, MA on the unique legal problems of the elderly; (5) the Director of the Nursing Home Ombudsman Project, Department of Elder Affairs, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Boston, MA on the legal status of nursing home patients; and other program directors and private citizens describing legal problems they have encountered.
