Diffusion of Impact Innovations from 1973-76: Interpersonal Communication Networks Among University Professors. A Report to the Exxon Education Foundation.
Agarwala-Rogers, Rekha; And Others
This report presents the research findings from the second year of a continuing investigation to determine the diffusion patterns to university professors of four specific educational innovations developed by the IMPACT Program. Issues addressed include: (1) creation of a corps of secondary and tertiary receivers, (2) future adoption and discontinuance, (3) nature of local information dissemination networks, (4) relative effectiveness of various diffusion strategies, and (5) the implementation process for educational innovations. The diffusion strategies of the NEXUS, CONDUIT, and Strategies for Change and Knowledge Utilization Project are compared to those of the IMPACT Program. Implications of the IMPACT Program's diffusion patterns for other programs of innovation in higher education are discussed. (STS)
