Evaluative Report to Lilly Endowment Regarding the Program for Internships in the Administration of Higher Education.
Indiana Univ., Bloomington. Dept. of Higher Education.
During the academic years 1975-76 and 1976-77 the Lilly Endowment provided funds for 13 internships and the Associated Colleges of Indiana provided support for another intern. The interns were placed at cooperating institutions that agreed to provide various specified experiences under the direction of mentors, in return for the interns' services. Two interns were postdoctoral students, and the rest were doctoral students. Specific evaluative comments were requested from the participants and discussed by all of them during a seminar at the end of each year. In addition, written evaluations were received from each mentor and intern (the form is appended). Each intern was interviewed. As a result of these successful experiences, two doctoral courses have been developed, a practicum and an internship. In this report, the individual internships are described, the evaluative procedures detailed, and the final evaluations summarized. (MSE)
