Business and Consumer Education Case Studies.
Delta Pi Epsilon, Minneapolis, Minn. Phi Chapter.
This publication contains 58 case studies for classroom use in teaching various business and consumer education subjects at the high school level. A supplement to a previous Phi Chapter publication, "Office Education Case Studies" (1973), the case studies are intended to create class discussions and help students acquire the ability to analyze problems and make decisions. Each case is divided into two parts. The first part describes a situation which illustrates a business or economic principle, or which illustrates a situation a student might encounter in the business system. The situations are brief. The first portion of the case concludes with one or more questions that will direct the student to the problem to be solved. The second part of the case, Points to Consider, includes questions which students might ask and wish to discuss to obtain further information needed to solve the problem or answer the question indicated in the case situation. Topical areas covered include the business environment, the business enterprise, labor relations, consumer credit and money management, consumer rights and responsibilities, banking and finance, insurance, and social responsibilities of business.
