Local Acts Creating and Providing for North Carolina City School Administrative Units.
Phay, Robert E.; Ward, Robert M.
This book contains a compilation of the local legislative acts that create and provide for the operation of the 52 city administrative school districts in North Carolina. These local laws determine the size, method of member selection, and special powers of boards of education in each of these cities. Statistical data on method of school board member selection, the filling of vacancies on boards, the length of board members' terms, and the number of members for each city are included, along with a review and comparison of the major characteristics of North Carolina city school boards. This review also briefly examines the relationship between state and local law concerning school district governance. The volume is intended as a reference for school administrators and other parties interested in acts governing local school administrative units. (Author/DS)
