Using Process/Product Relationships as the Basis of Describing Effective Teacher Behavior.

This paper presents an extension of analyses of data on the Carroll County, Georgia, Competency Based Teacher Certification Project, of which the procedure, description of measures, and method of analysis have been described in related documents. Results from two additional observation instruments are reported, and the teacher-derived competencies based on these and previous instruments are related to pupil outcomes. Analysis of data suggests little support for the use of teacher-derived competencies as descriptions of effective classroom teaching. (MB)
