Identification of Systematic Errors: Final Report.
Graeber, Anna O.; Wallace, Lisa
This study was designed to provide information about the types and frequency of systematic errors made by elementary school children in working mathematics examples. Student work samples on addition, subtraction, and multiplication were collected from two elementary schools and errors were classified and analyzed. Details are reported for errors made for each of 5 individual skills for addition, 5 for subtraction, and 2 for multiplication. Appendices include statements of objectives for analyzed skills, a table showing the distribution of pretests by skill and grade level, a sample data sheet, and a vocabulary list for systematic error descriptions.
