The theoretical basis of various aspects of curriculum development, and the innovations and changes occurring in the secondary school science curricula in Turkey are presented. The technical details of the curriculum development process are examined by means of an experimental study conducted to develop a unified science curriculum for the junior high school by the Turkish Science Curriculum Development Group (SCDG). The scope, planning, procedures, evaluation, and implementation of this curriculum are detailed. An outline of the subject matter units of the integrated junior high curriculum is provided. Instructional materials, learning activities, and test items from a unit entitled, "Change, Motion, and Time" are presented. A listing of the individuals who contributed to the curriculum development activities of the Science Curriculum Development Group concludes this publication. (BT)
