Systematic Instructional Management Strategies in a Junior High Learning Disabilities Program.

The Systematic Instructional Management Strategies (SIMS) program for severely learning disabled junior high school students is described. Reviewed are the following aspects of this interdisciplinary program: case management (including the development of Individualized Education Programs); curriculum (including reading and spelling, written language, math, and oral communication); classroom structure (the station approach); individual management strategies (such as student contracts and daily behavior reports); group counseling; and parent involvement. A detailed case study of a seventh grade student at SIMS is presented. Among 23 appendixes are sample case management plans and daily behavior reports. (CL)
