Influence of Rural Puerto Rican Counselors on 11th Graders.
Stilwell, William E.; Carrasquillo, Meris
Twelve years ago in a different culture Krumboltz and Varenhorst (1965) found that counselors were more influential over ninth graders than their parents and other ninth graders. The present study uses a Graeco-Latin square design and tries to assess counselor influence in rural Puerto Rico. The findings suggest counselors are usually less influential in vocational and educational planning; peers are more influential than anticipated, and different cultural expectations influence the results.
