Equity and the Perception of Social Relationships.
Reis, Harry T.; Porac, Joseph F.
This study focuses on the roles of partner-and self-perception in the stability and quality of male-male, female-female, female-male, and male-female interpersonal relationships. The results reveal that, with the exception of male same-sex relationships individuals perceive greater satisfaction from "maximizing" or self-enhancement choices in partners, as opposed to the "equity theory."
