Recreation Activity Clustering: Behavioral and Management Implications.
Yoesting, Dean R.
An alternative method for predicting recreation use patterns is explored. A factor analytical technique is used to determine if patterns and recreation clusters exist that can be used in estimating response to new kinds of recreation developments. Analysis of 45 outdoor recreation activities is presented with 5 recreation clusters developed. Socioeconomic characteristics are related to cluster participation, and intercluster participation is examined. A stratified random sample of Iowa residents 12 and older was used. Management implications are discussed. (Author)
