Public School Environmental Education Program, Report of a National Study.

During the 1974-75 academic year, a nationwide survey of public elementary and secondary school environmental education programs and project curricula was conducted. The central focus of this research effort was directed at identifying and describing selected curricular characteristics of such programs and projects, and analyzing these characteristics as they related to specified criterion variables. This publication presents in synopsis form the results of this research effort. Analyses were conducted on responses from 301 responders. A number of conclusions are included regarding use at various grade levels, content selection, sources of materials, staffing patterns, evaluation, and implications for research. Tables for selected data elements are in the appendices. (RH)
