Policy-making is the most identifiable area of responsibility for a board of education. To discharge this responsibility effectively and to ensure a worthwhile educational program for the students of the district, each board member and administrator must have a clear understanding of what policies are and how to write them. This booklet provides a concise explanation of the board's role in policy-making along with specific guidelines on how to fulfill that role.
