Educational Assessment Program State Report, 1975-76.
New Jersey State Dept. of Education, Trenton. Div. of Research, Planning, and Evaluation.
Using a battery of tests developed by Educational Testing Service, New Jersey public school students were tested in grades four, seven, ten and twelve for their mastery of selected reading and mathematics skills. The percent of correct answers for each item, and evaluative comments are presented in terms of the total population tested; community type; and district factor groupings such as educational level of adults, occupation, mobility, density, urbanization, income, unemployment, and poverty. The data collected through the Educational Assessment Program (EAP) is used in the planning and evaluation of educational programs through the identification of local school districts that have programs which are either exceptional or particularly in need of assistance. Further, the EAP is designed to assess the status of New Jersey's educational system relative to the statewide goals adopted by the State Board of Education. (BW)
