State of Washington Population Trends, 1975. Washington State Information Report.

As of April 1, 1975, Washington's population was estimated at 3,494,124--an increase of 80,874 since 1970. Prepared yearly, this report presents tabular data pertaining to: (1) current April 1 estimates for cities, towns, and counties; (2) current decline in household size; (3) the use of postal vacancy surveys in estimating vacancy rates; and (4) changes in proportions of persons residing in apartments and trailers versus single family residences. Data were obtained from city and county officials, Armed Forces personnel at major bases in the State, and the Department of Social and Health Services. Data cover: classification of cities and counties by population size; annexations by cities and towns; land area and population per square mile of cities and towns over 2,500--1970; population by district; population of selected ethnic categories--Spanish surnamed, American Indian, Black, and Asian American; population 65 years and over; Armed Forces population; general fertility rate--1930-1975; abortions by age and marital status; live births, illegitimate live births, and illegitimacy ratio; marriages and divorces; mortality--life expectancy and probability of dying; housing trend by structure type--1940-1970; distribution of city housing units by structure type; and changes in household size.
