Presented is the final report of a project to acquire, renovate, and construct a building addition to house a sheltered workshop and provide instruction in basic life skills, social skills, simple production work skills, and life oriented academics for moderately retarded adults. Sections are provided on the following aspects of the project (sample subtopics are in parentheses): background (the problem, historical summary, and proposed solution); review of philosophy and objectives; building securement (the building survey, decision to use Pauline School, and obtaining required approvals); educational specifications (projected client enrollment, site considerations, and preliminary floor plan); obtaining an architect; budget (itemized cost of construction materials); architectural drawings; proposal to regional vocational school; construction materials (preparation, construction materials list, and bidding and purchasing); compliance with codes and regulation (building and fire regulations); supervision of construction (considerations); funding (state, federal, and private support); evaluation (assessment of the existing structure, the renovated building and addition, and practicum evaluation); dissemination of information; and significance of the project. Among appended material are correspondence of the building officer, the invitation to bidders, and federal funding correspondence.
