EPIE Career Education S*E*T*. Volume 2: Analysis of Seven Hundred Prescreened Materials. ***Selection and Evaluation Tools.
Educational Products Information Exchange Inst., Stony Brook, NY.
The document, one of two volumes which comprise the EPIE (Educational Products Information Exchange) Career Education S*E*T* (Selection and Evaluation Tools), contains abstracts of both commercial and noncommercial career education materials for all age levels. Introductory material includes a brief definition of career education, an outline of the definition used to screen materials for the catalog, a summary of the contents of Volume 1, and information on how to use the volume. Analyses of the instructional materials are presented in seven color-coded sections: printed materials, filmstrips, films, multimedia, miscellanea, noncommercial products, and products under development. For each item the author, publisher, copyright date, components, target audience, curriculum role, and producers' evaluation activities are identified. The item's instructional design (objectives, content, method/activities, and evaluation) are briefly described and coded to indicate which of six elements of career education (self-knowledge, decision making, educational development, career awareness, economic awareness, and other competencies) are present. The noncommercial materials in the volume have been submitted to the ERIC system. Separate indexes are provided for commercial products, noncommercial products, and publishers/distributors (commercial and noncommercial). A table of contents for Volume 1 is also included.
