Faculty Development: Planning for the Effective Use of Human Resources.

Examined is the phenomenon of the recent faculty development movements in institutions of higher education. Of special importance are: (1) major ways we have approached faculty development; (2) forces that influence the faculty development movement. A construct of faculty development involves giving conscious attention to planning, studying, and improving those structures and processes used by faculty to attain their goals as well as the goals of the institution.
