The Cooperative College Registry 1963-1975.
The Cooperative College Registry was the pioneer venture of a group of committed Protestant denominations in behalf of their related colleges and universities. It spoke to an urgent need created by an imbalanced academic labor market--a severe teacher shortage. It dealt on a nationwide basis with potential teachers, thus increasing visibility of the church-related colleges it served while enhancing employment opportunities for registrants. Eventually its service expanded to encompass all academic institutions of higher learning. With the downward trend of the economy and the complete reversal of the academic labor market in the early 1970's, CCR's need was less evident. It closed its doors in 1975. (Author)
