This is one of two volumes that present a comprehensive record of testimony and exhibits presented to a subcommittee of the Committee on the Judiciary of the U.S. Senate during hearings on the problem of violence and vandalism in American schools. This volume summarizes two hearings conducted on April 16, 1975, and June l7, 1975, that focused specifically on the nature, extent, and cost of school violence and vandalism. Included are testimony and exhibits presented by panels of school superintendents, teachers, school security administrators, and representatives of teacher associations. The appendix contains supplemental statements and material submitted by a number of school districts and school-related organizations, as well as numerous published articles and editorials dealing with school violence and vandalism.
