Theoretical Models and Processes of Reading. Second Edition.
Singer, Harry, Ed.; Ruddell, Robert B., Ed.
This second edition, including current theories, models, and processes involved in the reading act, has been compiled to improve understanding of the nature of reading and to contribute to improved reading instruction and an increased level of literacy in the United States. Articles are organized into three main sections: processes of reading; models (psycholinguistic, information processing, developmental, and affective); and issues in research and teaching, which concludes with a critique of inferences derived from theories of development and applied to processes of reading. Each of these three major sections includes a set of focusing questions at the beginning. Author and subject indexes complete the volume. (JM)
