The Professional Development Series for Work Experience Education. Evaluation Report.
Roberts, Edward R.; Holmes, Allan
The purpose of the project was to design and present an inservice education program for work experience teachers and coordinators in order to improve their operational effectiveness at the school/classroom level. A series of five three-hour programs were conducted at five California locations. A total of 503 participants, representing 211 school districts, attended one or more of the workshops. They included work experience teachers, administrators, supervisors, coordinators, and work experience coordinators. Workshop topics were: (1) laws governing work experience education; (2) goals, objectives, and evaluation of work experience education; (3) conceptual design and the relationship of work experience education to the school curriculum; (4) related instruction in work experience education; and (5) organization and standards in work experience education. Results of pretests, posttests, and the followup evaluation showed that the workshops were valuable in adding to participants' knowledge and in effecting changes in programs. Contents of the evaluation report include a description of the project, participant data summary, results of pretests and posttest, results of postworkshop evaluation survey instruments (including key comments by respondents), a summary of conclusions, and recommendations.
