Designing and Operating a Career Counseling Service for Adults.
Grothe, Mardell S.
One of a series of manuals developed by the Education Development Center's Home and Community-Based Career Education Project, the report describes the career and counseling component of the project. The core of the project is career counseling by telephone, provided by trained paraprofessionals. It was found that paraprofessionals can deliver career counseling services effectively by using the telephone as a medium of client-counselor interaction. The publication includes information on planning and designing the counseling service, procedures for counseling clients, recruiting and selecting professional and paraprofessional personnel, training and supervising personnel, using resource materials, collecting information during the counseling process, and storing client records.
