Higher Education Prices and Price Indexes.

The purpose of this study and its succeeding editions is to report higher education price information on a continuing basis until a more formal effort in this direction is initiated by the federal government or by interested private organizations. Consideration is given to the uses and limitations of price indexes, expenditure grouping for pricing purposes, and taxonomy of higher education price data. The chapters deal with: index number theory and computation; college and university current operations prices and indexes; university research and development prices and indexes; college and university physical plant additions price indexes; and student consumer prices and indexes. A technical bibliography is included, along with 36 tables and figures. (LBH)
