Intended for the specialist in low vision rehabilitation, the manual provides information on low vision evaluation, low vision aids, and perceptual learning. A large section of the document is devoted to illustrations and information on (including use, cost, and source) 15 near and 8 distance vision aids such as the Coil Hi-Power Reader, hand magnifier, and 10x monocular. Also detailed are 19 lesson plans--each including lesson objective, description of materials used, source of materials, and procedure--covering such areas as simple form discrimination, coordination of tactual and visual skills, and improvement of reading speed and comprehension. Other sections are offered on vision testing (tests are described in terms of equipment, procedure, recording, relevance, and sources for material), ordering aids, the optometrist consultation, closed circuit television, educational training (which includes information on characteristics of eye diseases), and approximately 100 sources for low vision aids.
