The instructional booklet explores various occupations in the job family of marine science. Following a brief introduction to the concept of occupational clusters, the student is given an overall orientation to the general area of oceanography and marine-related careers. A shore research station and the activities of a marine biologist are examined in chapter 2. Chapter 3 describes a typical research expedition and some functions of marine geologists and chemists. Chapter 4 is concerned with marine engineering, chapter 5 with divers, and chapter 6 with mining the sea. The final chapter deals with fisheries and aquaculture.
