Swedish Educational Research in the Mid Seventies. Educational and Psychological Interactions No. 54.
Bjerstedt, Ake, Ed.
Educational research has a fairly short tradition in Sweden. During the sixties, however, new research departments were established in several places in connection with schools of education, and larger sums of money for project research became available. An overview of current educational research in Sweden is presented here in three parts. The first part describes the thirteen major research departments now in operation and attached to schools of education or universities. The second part illustrates the research and development work in the educational field carried out through major local education authorities. The third part presents the operations of four central organizations for funding educational research in Sweden: the research bureaus of National Board of Education and the University Chancellor's Office, the Social Science Research Council, and the Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Fund. Besides describing how research is initiated, funded, and followed up, these reports from funding organizations also give some glimpses from research on education in departments other than those covered in the first two sections.
