Nature Activities for Early Childhood.
Nickelsburg, Janet
This manual contains 44 separate projects which are designed to help teachers and parents provide young children (in kindergarten through second grade) with experiences in observing natural phenomena, plants, and animals. Each project centers around an activities section prefaced with scientific information meant to provide the teaching adult with further background. Lists of helpful materials are included, along with key vocabulary words for the children to learn. Projects include suggestions on where to find the plants and animals observed and how to care for them. Projects are divided into six sections including Outdoor Group Projects, Projects with Small Animals, Indoor Projects, Watching Things, Looking for Things in the Ground, and Projects with Plants. Each section ends with a bibliography for both children and adults. The text is illustrated with photographs and drawings. (SB)
