The Administrative Organization of the Libraries of Columbia University: A Detailed Description. Revised Edition.

The organization of each unit, section, department, division, and group of the Columbia University Library is described by listing principal administrator, parent unit, role, objectives, functions, key working relationships, reports produced, and performance and evaluative criteria. The hierarchical structure of the library is indicated in the organization of the document. The office of information services, the university librarian, and the personnel and planning offices are described first, followed by the various units of the library resources group, the library technical support group, and the library services group. This last group includes reference and major subject divisions. Five other Columbia libraries and their subdivisions are similarly described. These are the Health Sciences Library, the Avery (arts) Library, the Rare Book and Manuscript Library, the East Asian Library, and the Law Library. The implementation of 1970 managmeent study recommendations is discussed in the introduction. Some organization charts are included, and the members of the organization task force are listed. (LS)
