The 141 books listed in this annotated bibliography were selected becasue they portray boys and girls as people who have the same kinds of frailties and strengths. The books are divided into four general categories; preschool through third grade, third grade through seventh grade, seventh grade through twelfth grade, and all ages. Each category has two subdivisions; fiction and non-fiction. Included with the annotation of each title is the name of the publisher, the date of original publication, the grade category into which the book seems to fall, and the price of the book. If no price is given, this means that the book is currently out of print but might be obtained from the library or purchased second-hand. The afterword describes the reasons for publishing the guide and explains why some books were omitted. (TS)
