Sandrin, James V.; Guilliams, Clark I.
The document presents a summary report of a workshop on the implementation of career education which involved 40 educators from seven small school districts in southwest Missouri. Three major teaching strategies were presented and practiced by the participants. They included: (1) the person-centered interview (in-school and out of school), (2) the career visit (with people working in the school and people in the world of work), and (3) the development of learning activity packages by individual educators within selected subject matter of their choice. A pre- and posttest appraisal was utilized. Appended materials make up two-thirds of the document and include (1) the career education questionnaire designed to identify teacher attitudes toward career education and (2) the results of the survey administered on a pre- and posttest basis to 39 public school participants (teachers, counselors, and administrators). An analysis of the collected data revealed that the participants were more positive in their attitudes toward career education after the workshop.
