Pre--Post Secondary Curriculum Guide: Health.
Michael J. Owens Technical Coll., Perrysburg, OH.
A pre--Post secondary curriculum for preparing eleventh and twelfth grade students contemplating postsecondary education in the health occupations is presented in the document. The curriculum would assist high school students in their choice of health careers and in entering postsecondary education smoothly. The pre--post secondary curriculum includes academic and observational programs. The academic program (four days of the week) focuses on five areas: life science (core subject), physical science, mathematics, communications, and social studies/humanities. The observational program (one day per week) is comprised of activities such as survey and intensive excursions, visits by health professionals to the instructional center, audiovisual materials center, and visits to schools of higher education. A scheduling system for both programs and staff requirements for their implementation are discussed. The major portion of the document (360 pages) presents the details of the curriculum. First and second year content outlines and first and second year weekly curricula are presented separately for the following areas: (1) mathematics, (2) field experience--first and second year field activities, (3) life science, and (4) physical science. A list of film suppliers and suggested textbooks and laboratory manuals are included. (EC)
