Attitudes on En Route Air Traffic Control Training and Work: A Comparison of Recruits Initially Trained at the FAA Academy and Recruits Initially Trained at Assigned Centers.
Mathews, John J.; And Others
In the comparison, questionnaires concerning aspects of training-related and work-related attitudes were sent to 225 Air Traffic Control (ATC) trainees who represented groups of attritions and retentions in two En Route training programs; viz, programs that provided basic training at the FAA Academy and programs that provided basic training at the trainees' assigned facilities. The return rate on the questionnaires was 82.7 percent. Data from both groups generally support previous findings regarding sources of differences in work attitudes between sexes and between attrition-retention groups. The most frequent recommendations for change involved facility training and facility instructors; modifications in the pace of training were also recommended frequently. (NTIS)
