Self-Appraisal for Decision Making and Career Planning.
Ohio State Univ., Columbus. Center for Vocational and Technical Education.
The learning experiences in the teacher's guide are intended to lead the tenth grade student to self-awareness, particularly in relation to the student's interests, attitudes, achievements, and values. However, this guide also is applicable to all senior high school students. Each student has the opportunity to explore processes of planning and prerequisites for career decisions. Subject areas for which the materials in this guide have potential are English, language arts, social studies, and communications. Some of the topics covered include: personal interests and achievements; personal and societal values; understanding success; exploring the decision making process; values, needs, and lifestyles; and job applications and interviews. Each set of learning experiences contains a student objective, set overview, resource list, teacher-preparation tasks, learning activities, and suggestions for evaluation-summary activities. Activity-coordinated worksheets are included. (Author/NJ)
