Movement Education for Students with Special Needs in Physical Education.

Discussed are aspects of physical education programs for children with special needs. It is explained that movement education promotes important learning for all pupils and is well suited for facilitating the integration of handicapped children into regular classes. Suggestions are given for teachers, and equipment items (such as inner tubes and hurdles) are listed. Progressive goals and activity ideas are presented for the following areas: body awareness, space and direction, balance, basic body and locomotive movement, laterality, strength and endurance, eye-hand coordination, eye-foot coordination, and motor planning and sequencing.
