British Council, London (England). English-Teaching Information Centre.
The teaching and learning of English as a foreign language for special purposes is the focus of this annotated bibliography. The first section lists textbooks on English in social and physical sciences, general technology, engineering, transport and agriculture, medicine and various areas of commerce, including business correspondence. The books were published in a wide geographical area, including England, Europe, and the United States. A short list of simplified English readers follows. The rest of the bibliography concerns research and writing on the use of English for special purposes, in articles, books, and reports; current research in Britain; and theses and dissertations.
