A Study of Variables Relating to Women's Vocational Patterns: A Fifteen Year Follow-Up.
Kummerow, Jean M.; Hummel, Thomas J.
A Vocational Pattern Index, based on Zytowski's (1969) postulates on women's vocational participation, was developed. This index is based on age of first entry into the job market, number of entries, years of work, and degree of participation. Fifteen years after graduation from the University of Minnesota, a Questionnaire requesting detailed work, educational, and family life histories and various attitudes was sent to 143 females. One hundred nine persons responded. The relationship between the Vocational Pattern Index and 27 variables was studied using multiple regression. Number of children was found to be the best predictor of vocational pattern. (Author)
