The purpose of this book is to review the place of economics education in the curriculum and to investigate the significance of developments in educational theory and practice for the teaching of economics. It consists of a collection of studies on different aspects of economics education, prepared by 24 contributors from British and North American educational institutions. These developments are related to specific teaching situations and include examples and information which will be of direct use to the teacher. Section 1 contains a survey analysis of recent developments in economics education and its present structure in secondary schools and colleges. Section 2 presents seven articles examining basic issues of importance in economics education such as educational objectives, methods of assessment, relationship to the other social sciences, and the relationship of economics to educational theory. Section 3 provides six articles describing six different courses in economics for various age groups. Section 4 contains eight articles dealing with the methods and aids available in economics teaching. (Author/DE)
