An Introduction to Environmental Measurement and Its Descriptive Analysis by Computer.
Estabrook, George F.
This publication, devised for use at the university level, is divided into seven sections: Measurement of the Environment, Representation of Data, Analysis of Data, Similarity Among Objects, Stochastic Dependence of Nominal Characters, Hierarchical Classification of Objects, and Spatial Representation of the Objects in a Study. It is written for readers presumed to be investigating some aspects of environmental variation, as represented by a study of things which vary, or of instances of variation. Three specific data analytic techniques are discussed and reasons for their choice are detailed. The appendix contains a list of references to the recent literature, input deck formats, and example studies. (BT)
