ACRES: Area Community Real Estate Simulation. (An Environment and Development Game.)
Pidot, George B., Jr.
This gaming-simulation is designed to give undergraduate students an improved understanding of the dynamics of urban development. The players make a number of decisions representing the business, government, and residential factions of the population. Winning or losing is not the most important function of the game, but rather, interaction with other players is stressed, The economy and environment of the community are simulated by a time-shared computer which can be used by the players to punch-in information or to print-out data. At the end of each round, a complete set of data is printed out for all the players. A playing board is included to clarify the community's developmental progress. This information, plus a scenario for the role-playing, computer programming directions, and sample computer print-outs and worksheets are included in the materials. (MA)
