Oakland Community College Child Care Center.
Cunningham, Amelia; And Others
This detailed report describes the development of a child care program designed to provide quality day care for children while serving as a laboratory school for persons seeking an associate degree in child care. Introductory information describes the project's conception and administrative structure, its involvement with state, local and federal agencies, and its financing. Section II presents the general operational procedures of the program, including staff organization, parent involvement activities, publicity, and a brief summary of the initial aide training program. The philosophical bases of the program are discussed in Section III, as they relate to: (1) the spatial organization of the center, and (2) the seven curriculum subject areas, language, math, science, music, art, psycho-motor, and socio-emotional development. In Section IV, the objectives, management and implementation procedures, and materials for each of the seven curriculum areas are discussed in detail. The final sections of the report present evaluations of various elements of the project, specifically management procedures, inter-agency relationships, and project organizations. An annotated bibliography and appendices containing anecdotal records evaluation instruments, instructional plans, and activities, registration forms, sample charts, publicity articles, a list of materials, degree coursework proposal, etc., make up approximately one-half the document.
