You at Work: Who...Where...When: Life Roles, Settings and Events. Developmental K-3.
Fitzgerald, Suzanne
The teaching module is organized to provide students on the K-3 grade level with knowledge, skill, and understanding of the concepts of life roles, settings, and events. The module, divided into three learning sequences, is concerned with the definition of work roles, work settings, and work-linked events. The five activities in sequence 1 deal primarily with roles, the identification of work roles and their interrelationships through class or group work, and role-playing. In sequence 2, the four activities focus on the relationship between work and setting through identification of community, role-playing, and map reading. The concepts of change, crisis, and other work-linked events are dealt with in the three activities in sequence 3. All three learning sequences are introduced by objectives and an overview. Each activity is organized under the headings of: class grouping, concept and vocabulary, learner prerequisites, educator's preparation tasks, materials/resources, skills, process, and adaptations, and contains detailed suggestions for the teacher's use.
