Training of Museum Personnel.
Jelinsk, Jan; And Others
The rapid development and changes in our society, as characterized by the term "Scientific Revolution," touch every field of our activities. It is natural that they should touch the work of museums as well, where the need to establish the museum profession appears to be an urgent requirement at present. This book focuses on the training of museum personnel. Written in English and French, although there is not an English chapter for every French chapter and vice versa, the book contains three sections. Of the four chapters of section one, two are written in English. Museology and Museography in Museums deals with two topics: Museology--a course of instruction in museum theory, and Museography--dealing with the various techniques of museum work. Educational Personnel in Museums, chapter three, discusses the museum public, general aims and problems of museum education, types of educational programs, and the training of museum educational personnel. Section two contains one chapter in English, The Training of Personnel for Science Museums. The training of curators, display and design staff, museum assistants, guards, and educational officers is discussed. The final section, a world directory of Museology Training Courses, is in French.
