This book is designed as an introduction to the topic of energy in the environment. It is directed toward the intermediate student as a future citizen who will be involved in making important decisions concerning this vital issue. The materials can be used in any classroom where the topic of the environment is being studied--social studies, language arts, or science. The student text is divided into five sections. These include: What's It Got to Do with Me?; And It All Begins with the Sun; Energy Sources We Use; Meeting the Challenge with Nuclear Energy: Solving the Energy Puzzle; and Future Choices and You. A teacher's guide, included with the student text, contains student objectives, background information, materials needed, suggestions for the presentation and learning activities. (BT)
