Computer Listing of a Reserve Collection. Occasional Papers, No. 6.
Gallivan, B.; And Others
The computer-aided listing system developed for the short loan or reserve collection at the University of Lancaster should be applicable to other libraries. Designed for simplicity of operation, the system performs the following functions: (1) provides a master record of all books in the reserve collection at any given time, (2) facilitates the inclusion of additional volumes in the collection, (3) indicates when volumes should be withdrawn from the collection, (4) provides an author catalog of all volumes in the collection, (5) provides a catalog of the collection arranged by the course for which the volume is recommended reading, and (6) provides the teacher who recommended a volume with a record of the number of times it was used while it was held in the reserve collection. Flow charts and listings of the programs are included. (DGC)
