The Effective Student Council in the Mid-Seventies.
Reum, Earl; Cummings, Oneta
In 1964 the National Association of Secondary School Principals published a book entitled The Effective Student Council by Oneta Cummings, which spoke about the student council situation as it existed at that time. During the past nine years, the concept and effectiveness of student council have changed dramatically. The National Association of Student Councils now re-issues this book, edited and updated to fit appropriately into the world of the 70's in which student councils are making new and effective differences. The authors focus on the nature of a currently effective student council. They suggest the need for discussion on the subject of how a student council in a secondary school can become more effective and more productive, with time spent on clarifying goals, evaluating programs, and choosing new goals that make a difference in the life of today's student body.
