The subcommittee's purpose was to conduct an oversight hearing on the Older Americans Act of 1965 as amended, and to provide grants to states for the establishment, maintenance, operation, and expansion of low-cost meal programs, nutrition training and education programs, and opportunity for social contracts. A major portion of the testimony is taken from experts in the field of gerontology and, in particular, from the staff of the Andrus Gerontology Center of the University of Southern California.
