A Casebook on Administration and Supervision in Industrial-Technical Education.
Brown, Bill Wesley
The casebook is designed for use during graduate classes in administration and supervision in industrial-technical education, or for use by other individuals who are already employed or who are preparing for employment as administrators or supervisors. Problems and situations which can be solved in many different ways are presented for discussion. Most of them are set in secondary schools or at the college-university level; several cases involve community colleges. Within the "case" or situational-approach framework of the book, the author brings into context a set of working principles in supervision and administration. The first chapter discusses the problem of administration and supervision, the second chapter presents selected administrative methods, techniques, and procedures, the third chapter treats problems-solving and the case study technique; and the remaining six chapters are comprised of the cases to be studied. The cases involve: the instructional staff; facilities, equipment, supplies, and the support staff; students and parents; other administrative-supervisory personnel; curriculum, budgets, and planning; and advisory committees.
